Mirror gives you the look of double cross-hatching without the headache of lining it up. Pairs of parallel diagonal lines frame a bold oval in the center of each repeat, and the rows are spaced so they never have to touch. Offset every other row by 50% and let it stitch. It's easy to run, big on texture, and works on everything from traditional to modern to children's quilts. Read the full backstory and see more photos here.
The bottom of each oval is stitched twice, but it's part of a smooth stitch path with no harsh pivots, so the double-stitched lines look very clean.
The quilt shown in the examples is the Redford quilt by Then Came June.
Quilting default (shown on a 57" x 71" quilt):
Row height: 1.7"
Gap: -0.837"
Pattern height: 2.537"
Offset: 50%
Backtracking: some
At this scale, the ovals are about 1 1/8" wide and 1 7/8" long. Feel free to size up or down to suit your quilt.
